What it does

Official GitHub server covering repositories, issues, pull requests, code search, and Actions. Ships as a remote endpoint or a local binary, and lets you scope an agent to read-only or a narrow toolset instead of handing over a broad personal access token. The remote path is the one to try first.

Install

This server is hosted rather than run locally. Add the endpoint below as a remote MCP server in a client that supports HTTP transport.

When to use it

Reach for this when the task needs github inside the agent loop. Skip it if a plain shell command or a one-off script is enough — every server you add costs context and adds a failure mode.
