Stripe MCP
Reads Stripe objects and can create test-mode resources, which makes it genuinely useful while wiring a checkout.
What it does
Reads Stripe objects and can create test-mode resources, which makes it genuinely useful while wiring a checkout. The warning is the same one Stripe gives: use a restricted key scoped to test mode. An agent with a live secret key can move money, and it will not ask first.
Install
npx -y @stripe/mcp
Client configuration
Paste this into your MCP client config (Claude Desktop, Cursor, or any client that reads mcpServers), then restart the client.
{
"mcpServers": {
"stripe": {
"command": "npx",
"args": [
"-y",
"@stripe/mcp"
]
}
}
}
Use it for
Inspecting customers, invoices, and payment intents while building a checkout
Skip it if
Live-mode keys; restricted keys are the whole point here
When to use it
Reach for this when the task needs payments inside the agent loop. Skip it if a plain shell command or a one-off script is enough — every server you add costs context and adds a failure mode.
Other TypeScript servers
- Filesystem — Gives an agent scoped read, write, and search access to directories you explicitly allow
- Memory — A persistent knowledge graph stored in a local JSON file, exposed through entities, relations, and observations
- Sequential Thinking — Gives the model a scratchpad for structured, revisable reasoning: numbered thoughts that can branch, revise, and conclude
