Planning with Files
Keeps the plan in markdown on disk, so a crashed session resumes instead of restarting.
Use it for
Long agent runs that survive a crashed session
Skip it if
Short tasks; the file overhead is not worth it
What it is
Long-running agent work fails in a specific way: the plan lives in the context window and disappears when the session does. This skill writes the plan and its progress to files, so the next session reads where the last one stopped. Unglamorous, dependency-free, and the cheapest fix for agents that forget what they were doing halfway through a refactor.
Install
Clone the repository, then copy the skill folder into your agent's skills directory — ~/.claude/skills/ for Claude Code. Skills are plain files: no build step, no daemon.
git clone https://github.com/OthmanAdi/planning-with-files.git
How to judge it
Read the SKILL.md before you install. A good skill states when it applies, what it must not do, and how to verify the result. A skill that only lists adjectives will change the agent's tone without improving its output — skip those.
